What’s the role about?

We are recruiting for the very exciting position of Manager, Own Brand Strategy to join our Waitrose & Partners Commercial team.

This role will report into our Head of Product Innovation and has a team of 6 reports.

You will also work closely with the broader Customer & Commercial teams,  primarily Heads of Brand, Brand Marketing & Design,  Heads of Category Proposition Groups, Technical, Category Strategy.  As part of the Product Innovation Leadership team, you will also work closely with Innovation, Packaging & Product Development leaders.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you will set the strategic own brand direction for Waitrose & Partners for the next 1-5 years, driving our quality, taste and innovation agenda, striving to deliver for our customers today and in the future.

You will develop and recommend the own brand direction through its own brand propositions and successfully engage the business to deliver,  ensuring we protect own brand products & offer customers something unique.

You will have responsibility for setting Own brand standards,  brand architecture and ambitions to be delivered through programmes, category strategy and customer plans.

Finally, you will be the single point of guardianship of Waitrose Own brand product execution in the market.

What you’ll have:

  • Experience managing FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods)/Own brand portfolios at senior level for a business of significant size and complexity
  • Successfully led & delivered large scale complex, cross-functional propositions
  • Experience of leading complex and matrix teams
  • Operated at a senior level of business regularly influencing senior leadership, at board level
  • Strong strategic thinker

What else could you bring?

  • Food brand experience with track record in delivering commercial success
  • CIM or degree level Brand/Marketing qualification
